$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in South Carolina

A group of five friends from South Carolina, who are regular Powerball players, managed to match all five main numbers to win a $1 million Powerball prize in the drawing that took place on Wednesday March 22nd. The syndicate, also known as ‘the Powerballers’, bought their ticket at a Food Lion store located in Pawleys Island.

The winning numbers for the Wednesday 22nd March drawing were 2, 9, 27, 29, 42, and Powerball 9. Lottery officials have not released the names of the winners. However, the group of five opted to list their nicknames – Hollywood, Frankie S. Angels, Shark Jr., Neighbor Mike, and Higgs.

The lucky quintet from South Carolina showed their excitement after realising they had won a large Powerball prize, with Neighbor Mike commenting "we were all flipping out", as the group had never missed a draw in 14 years and had not previously won a prize worth more than $100.

When asked what they were going to do with the winnings, Neighbor Mike spoke for the group, stating "we’re all going to kick back, be happy and buy some new toys". Each member of 'the Powerballers' will receive $136,000 after tax withholdings.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is an estimated $50 million and tickets are available from authorized retailers or players can opt to choose their numbers online.
