Pennsylvania Celebrates 20th Powerball Jackpot Win

Pennsylvania has become the fourth state to have had at least 20 Powerball jackpot winners, after one lucky ticket holder matched all the numbers in the latest drawing on Monday, August 12.

The jackpot for Monday night was worth $213.8 million, following a run of 16 draws in a row without a winner. The numbers drawn were 9, 22, 57, 67 and 68, with a Powerball of 14, and a single entry proved to be a perfect match.

On an exciting night for players across the country, more than 346,000 prizes were paid out. Many of the winners had added the Power Play option and saw their payout trebled as the Power Play number drawn was 3X.

But the glory went to the winner from Pennsylvania, who can now look forward to life as a multimillionaire. The ticket was sold at AJ’s Pizza, 3565 Harts Run Road in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.

Success in the Keystone State

The winner now has one year from the draw date to come forward and claim their prize. They will have to decide whether they want to take the money as an annuity or go for the cash option of $106.4 million.

The Pennsylvania Lottery always discloses who wins its biggest prizes as there is a ‘Right-to-know’ law in the Keystone State, but players are able to claim through a legal trust to effectively preserve their anonymity.

The last Pennsylvania jackpot win came two years ago in August 2022, and the state has enjoyed regular success since joining Powerball in June 2002.

In fact, only three states have had more jackpot winners than Pennsylvania in the history of the game - Indiana, Missouri and Minnesota. Go to the Winners page to see a list of jackpots won by state, plus lots more information.

The grand prize now drops back to $20 million for Wednesday night, with draws continuing three times a week. Make sure to take part, then check the winning numbers online as soon as they are available.
