Virginia Man Wins $100,000 Powerball Prize Whilst Getting Car Towed
Serkan Sarikaya, from Alexandria, Virginia, was waiting for a tow truck to pick up his broken-down car when he decided to check his Powerball numbers for the drawing on October 4th, and discovered that he was now $100,000 richer.
The lucky player, who works as a remodelling subcontractor, bought his Powerball ticket at a 7-Eleven located on 6901 Victoria Drive in Kingstowne. In another stroke of good luck, he opted for the Power Play, which doubled his prize winnings from $50,000 to $100,000. You can learn more about the expected payouts for Power Play prizes on the Prizes page.
When asked how he chose his numbers, Serkan commented that they have no special meaning, but are simply digits that he likes. The winning Powerball numbers for that drawing were 22, 23, 62, 63, 66, Powerball 24 and the Power Play was 2X. You can view the payouts and total winners for the drawing on the Powerball Numbers page.
Serkan plans on using the winnings to pay off his bills. When claiming his prize, he told lottery officials “It’s so exciting!”
He wasn’t the only Match 4 plus Powerball (with Power Play) winner on the night of October 4th. There was one other player who also matched the second-tier prize numbers to win $100,000. The total number of prize winners in the drawing was 478,213.
If you would like to try your luck in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, the jackpot is an estimated $143 million. Tickets are available from your local authorized retailer or you can choose your numbers online. Good luck!
