$121.6 Million Powerball Jackpot Claimed by Pennsylvania Couple
A couple from Pennsylvania have come forward with their winning Powerball ticket for the December 17th drawing. The pair purchased their entry in Delaware to win a jackpot worth an astounding $121.6 million by matching all five main numbers 1, 8, 16, 40, 48 and the Powerball 10.
The lucky single winning ticket was bought at Selbyville Goose Creek gas station and the couple decided to take the cash value option of $72.1 million instead of the full prize amount, which is paid over 30 annual instalments. You can find the full prize breakdown from the drawing at the Powerball Numbers section.
The husband reportedly told lottery representatives that he started playing Delaware Lottery games in 1975 and has continued ever since, buying Powerball tickets when the jackpot reaches a substantial amount. "I figured it only takes one ticket to win," the husband said of their huge windfall. The wife also expressed her excitement by adding "We are very blessed to win".
When asked what they would they buy with their lottery winnings, the husband said that it had always been a dream of his to own a hot rod. They also plan to donate some of the prize winnings to schools and charities.
As the couple bought their ticket in Delaware, a state that allows lottery winners to remain anonymous, the couple’s names will remain undisclosed.
Tickets for tonight’s estimated $135 million draw are available to buy online or from an authorized retailer.
