Milwaukee Resident Claims $156.2 Million Powerball Jackpot
Wisconsin Lottery officials announced on Friday that Mai Xiong, a resident of Milwaukee, is the lucky winner of the $156.2 million Powerball jackpot. Xiong bought her ticket for the March 22nd drawing from Pewaukee Corner Pump at West Capitol Drive in Pewaukee.
The winning Powerball numbers for the drawing were 2, 9, 27, 29, 42, and Powerball 9. Xiong’s ticket matched the five main numbers and the Powerball number to win the jackpot. It has been revealed that Xiong decided to take the cash lump sum of $93.1 million after withholdings, instead of the full amount, which is paid out in annual instalments over 29 years.
The payout is the second largest Powerball prize won by a Wisconsin ticket holder. The largest payout was worth $208.8 million and was awarded to a group of 100 individuals known as the 'Miracle 100' in August 2006.
Lottery officials commented on Xiong’s win saying: “She is very grateful to the state of Wisconsin and its lottery program for the opportunity this prize has afforded her family.”
Pewaukee Corner Pump, where the winning ticket was sold, will also receive a vendor’s bonus of $100,000.
Players can try their luck in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. The jackpot is an estimated $261 million. Powerball tickets can be bought at any authorized retailer or players can choose their numbers online. The winning numbers will be available after the drawing in the Latest Numbers section. Good luck!
