Powerball Creates History As Jackpot Climbs to $1.9 Billion
Millions of Powerball players missed out on the gigantic $1.65 billion jackpot on Saturday night, pushing the grand prize up to $1.9 billion for the next drawing.
Saturday’s draw offered the largest jackpot ever seen in Powerball, after a late surge in ticket sales bumped it higher than the $1.58 billion draw from January 2016.
The winning numbers were 28, 45, 53, 56 and 69, with a Powerball of 20. More than 10 million players were rewarded with payouts, including one ticket holder who banked $2 million after matching five numbers and adding the Power Play option.
However, nobody matched all five main numbers and the Powerball, so the grand prize will now soar to unprecedented levels for Monday’s draw.
Monday was only added to the draw calendar in August 2021, giving players three chance a week to play, and it could now be the day that a new record is set for the biggest win.
The jackpot has been growing since someone from Pennsylvania pocketed $206 million on August 3rd. Three months and 40 drawings later, it has created a buzz of anticipation in all 48 participating jurisdictions as the prospect of a 10-figure payout looms.
The cash value of the next jackpot will be worth $929 million, if you think you would prefer to take the lump sum rather the annuity payments over 29 years.
If you’re not sure which numbers to select for the record draw, you could take a look at the latest Powerball Statistics, or use the Generator to produce a random set for yourself.
There are several different approaches you could take to picking your numbers, but the odds are identical for each individual line. As long as you have a ticket, you have a chance, so take part now and then check the winning numbers after the draw.
