Record Powerball Drawing Delayed

The record Powerball drawing scheduled for Monday night was delayed due to technical issues, as one participating state required extra time to process its ticket sales.

The draw still went ahead as soon as the necessary security protocols had been completed, and you can find the results on the Winning Numbers page now they are available.

Here’s a rundown of the events of the night as they happened (times in ET):

Live Updates

9:55am – Stay with Powerball.net for more news about the record draw. Whether you snapped up a prize or missed out, there’ll be another chance to win on Wednesday. Until then, thanks for following the updates and good luck next time!

9:09am – How many numbers have you matched? The full prize breakdown has not been announced yet, but it will be revealed soon whether the jackpot has been won or rolled again.

9:06am – The winning numbers for the record drawing are 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56, with a Powerball of 10.

9:04am – It’s been a long wait, but the numbers are finally here….

8:25am - If you win the jackpot, there are a couple of factors which have a big impact on how much you take home. One is where you bought your ticket, as the rate of tax differs greatly from state to state.

The other is whether you would take it as an annuity over 29 years, or the one-time payment of $929 million. Why not use the Tax Calculator to see how much you would receive?

7:35am – If you’re just waking up and expecting to see the winning Powerball numbers for Monday November 7, you are going to have to wait a little longer. One of the participating states was unable to process its ticket sales and submit its player data by the time last night’s draw should have gone ahead. The results are anticipated this morning.

6:40am - There have already been 40 straight drawings without a winner, dating back to August 3 when a player from Pennsylvania landed $206 million. Will that run end today? Drew Svitko, the chairman of the Powerball Product Group and executive director of the Pennsylvania Lottery, said: “Like the rest of America, and the world, I think we’re all eager to find out when this historic jackpot will eventually be won.”

5:30am – Still no estimated time for the delayed draw, but make sure to keep hold of your tickets for when you need them. You can then use the Powerball Checker to find out if you are a winner.

The Multi-State Lottery Association has also confirmed that it won’t be revealing which state failed to meet its security protocols in time. “It’s against our policy to name the lottery that is experiencing the delay.”

4:40am – A reminder that the cash option for Monday’s estimated jackpot was $929.1 million. If there is a winner, the lucky player will have to decide whether to take the grand prize as a lump sum or an annuity over 29 years. Get in touch with us on Twitter @PowerballUSA to let us know what you would do.

3:45am – According to the earlier statement, ‘it is likely that we will not know the official results of the Powerball drawing until Tuesday morning’. For those of you staying awake until the news is in, why not read up on What Happens When You Win Powerball?

3:00am - It has taken extra time to process sales because there has been such a high demand for tickets, driven by the record jackpot.

The jackpot became the biggest-ever on Saturday night after it went past the previous record of $1.58 billion, but nobody won at the weekend and the advertised value for Monday was $1.9 billion. It could end up being even higher if there’s been more tickets sold than anticipated.

2:00am – No timeframe has been given for when the Powerball numbers will be released, but you will be able to find them right here as soon as they are available.

1:00am – Drawings can only be held once all 48 participating lotteries have met their security protocols, and the Multi-State Lottery Association has issued a statement to explain that one state was not ready on time.

“When the required security protocols are complete, the drawing will be performed under the supervision of lottery security officials and independent auditors,” said the statement.

12:30am – The draw has been officially delayed. One of the participating lotteries needs extra time to complete its security protocols.

10:59pm – It’s draw time. With ticket sales closed in all participating states, lottery fans across the U.S. and the world eagerly wait for news of the winning numbers.
