States Begin To Offer First Powerball Millionaire of the Year Promotion
The eagerly-awaited promotion to become the first Powerball millionaire of the year in 2020 has kicked off, with the first states announcing details of how you can give yourself a chance to win. The $1 million prize will be given away just after midnight at the Rockin’ Eve party in New York’s Times Square.
Powerball came together with Dick Clark Productions last month to launch the scheme, revealing that the game’s first millionaire of 2020 would be chosen just after midnight on New Year’s Day and the moment would be captured live on television on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.
The winner will be selected from a draw of more than 300 lucky players, who will all be in attendance at Times Square. To get an invite to the party, though, you must win one of the special second-chance drawings that will take place in 24 participating states over the coming months.
Go to the Powerball Millionaire page to find out which states are taking part, as well as details of the VIP package that second-chance winners can look forward to during their three-day holiday to the big Apple.
New York and Wisconsin Launch Promotion
The promotion will work slightly differently across the country, but the first states have already begun to roll it out. New Mexico will be sending ten winners to New York for Rockin’ Eve and officials hope it will inspire fans of the game.
David Barden, CEO of the New Mexico Lottery and Powerball Product Group Chairman, said: “We are excited to offer our players the chance to attend this iconic event while also having a chance to win a million dollars.”
To take part in New Mexico, you must spend at least $6 on a single Powerball ticket. You will then receive an entry coupon with a serial number that you can enter on the state lottery’s official website. You must get your entries in by September 30th. The ten winners will be selected across four separate drawings.
Wisconsin also launched its promotion on May 1st and it will keep running until May 25th. Any non-winning Powerball ticket bought in this date range is eligible, regardless of how much you spend on your entry and whether or not you add Power Play. If you submit a winning ticket, you will not be able to claim your prize.
To enter, you must fill in your name, address and phone number on the back of your ticket and sign it. You should then mail it to Powerball Drawing, PO Box 8919, Madison, WI 53708.
The Wisconsin Lottery must receive your entry by June 4th, but you can submit as many tickets as you like to improve your chances of winning. Three players will then be selected at random for the VIP trip to New York and the chance to win $1 million.
Multiple Chances To Win
The remaining states will announce details of how the promotion will run in their jurisdictions in due course, leading up to the New Year extravaganza in New York. You will need to buy a ticket in a state that is taking part in the promotion, within the dates set out by that lottery, to be in with a chance.
You are then effectively giving yourself multiple chances to win, as there is always the possibility that you could win the multimillion-dollar Powerball jackpot. If not, you may land a luxury trip to New York and the opportunity to become a historic $1 million winner.
