Single Ticket Purchased in New Jersey Wins $223 Million Powerball Jackpot
The Powerball jackpot has rolled over 14 times since it was last won but the draw held on June 10, 2024 proved to be lucky for one player from New Jersey.
Draw Details
The Garden State hasn’t seen a Powerball jackpot win since January 2021. Last night’s draw however brought the great prize to one single player who matched all the winning numbers. The numbers drawn were 3, 10, 33, 58, 59, with the red Powerball 9. The Power Play was 2X. The Double Play numbers were 9, 15, 27, 32, 65, with the Powerball 10. No one won a second-tier prize as no ticket matched the five numbers. However, more than 426,000 players won prizes across lower tiers. You can explore the draw breakdown and check if you are one of those winners.
As New Jersey is one of the 18 states where lottery winners can remain anonymous, the new multimillionaire has the option to keep their big win private. Moreover, the winner can choose whether they take the cash value option of $104.7 million or they get paid in yearly installments across 30 years.
Powerball in New Jersey
The Garden State was home to Powerball jackpots 12 times since it joined the game in 2010. The largest Powerball amount ever won in the state was $429 million. The grand prize was won on May 7, 2016 and it was claimed by an eight-member family who purchased the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven Store on 750 Chambers Street in Trenton, Mercer County. Mrs Smith, a church worker, bought the ticket, although she confessed that she rarely played the lottery. The Smith family chose the cash option of $284 million.
The Powerball jackpot has now been reset to its base amount of $20 million. You could be the next big winner, so why not get involved in the next draw? Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 PM EST.
